Developmental Assessments

A Comprehensive Team-Based Approach

Are you concerned about your young child’s development?  Are you wondering if she is developing “typically?” Do you wonder if he will grow out of problems or difficulties he is having now? Has your pediatrician or family recommended an evaluation or testing?

Our assessment team at the Birth to Five Center of Excellence can help. Because so many factors can impact development, we bring together professionals from a wide range of disciplines who work exclusively with infants, toddlers, and preschool age children.

Our One Child, One Family, One Team approach is unique. Team members meet regularly, and collaborate to ensure that evaluations and assessments are coordinated and customized to the needs of your child and family.

To gain a full understanding of your child, the assessment may take place in a variety of locations including our clinic, your home, or your child care center. The evaluation may involve one or several specialists, depending on your child’s needs.

The team will write one comprehensive report, which will include specific recommendations and intervention strategies. We will share the report and follow-up with you to see if you have questions.  Following the assessment we can offer therapy services, or help you find needed services in your community. We are also available for ongoing consultation as needed.

Our team members specialize in services for children ages birth to 5 who are struggling with:

    • Complex developmental needs
    • Autism spectrum disorders (ASD)
    • Attachment and relationship issues
    • Behavioral or emotional problems
    • Feeding and eating challenges
    • Cognitive and learning difficulties
    • Social difficulties
    • Exposure to trauma
    • Family and life transitions
    • Assistive technology needs
